Netanyahu’s office says the attacks targeted Iran’s nuclear program and plans to hit Israel and American forces in the Middle East.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Israel and the United States had achieved "historic gains" in their war against Iran, which they began on Saturday by carrying out strikes on the Islamic Republic.
Netanyahu's spokesperson Shosh Bedrosian said in a video clip, "Israel and the United States together have achieved historic gains to protect our citizens and the civilized world."
She said the attack was necessary because Iran was rebuilding its nuclear weapons program in "new underground hideouts" and because there were indications of Iranian plans "to attack Israel and US forces in the Middle East."
