World AI Summit 2026: India hosts global leaders, UAE and Switzerland set sights on future editions

Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, revealed during his speech at the opening session of the Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit his country's desire to cooperate with the UAE to host the summit's activities in Geneva in 2027, with the UAE set to host the summit in its 2028 edition.
The summit, hosted by the Indian capital, New Delhi, from February 16 to 20 and chaired by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, includes participation from several country leaders, heads of governments, senior officials, decision-makers, investors, and representatives of major global technology companies.
The summit is considered the largest global gathering to discuss strategic priorities for artificial intelligence and to shape the future of this vital sector. It was first launched in 2023 in Milton Keynes, UK, with the world’s first summit on artificial intelligence security, featuring participation from 28 countries worldwide.
It attracts a select group of experts, decision-makers, and representatives of major global technology companies to exchange experiences and knowledge and to support efforts to develop global governance of the artificial intelligence sector. In addition, it explores opportunities to enhance partnerships between the public and private sectors and showcases the latest technological solutions and innovations presented by specialized global companies in artificial intelligence technologies from around the world.
The UAE's participation reflects its role in enhancing international cooperation to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence applications in various vital sectors, supporting the development of future economic models based on knowledge, innovation, and advanced technology, and helping to achieve global sustainable development goals.
