Hamas and Islamic Jihad hail Iran’s New Supreme Leader, emphasizing resistance against Israel and the US

Hamas and Islamic Jihad congratulated Iran on appointing Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of the Republic and expressed their hope to defeat the "Israeli-American aggression."

 

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement received by Agence France-Presse that his movement extends "congratulations to our brothers in the Islamic Republic on the occasion of the selection of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei," wishing him "to fulfill the hopes of the Iranian people in breaking the Israeli-American aggression and preventing the forces of arrogance from imposing their will on Iran."

 

Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhala said in a statement that his movement congratulates the new Supreme Leader, adding that "all free peoples of the world stand with you and see in your steadfastness, struggle, and victories a triumph for themselves and for their just causes."

He explained that the Palestinian people "stand at all times against America and Israel alongside their fellow fighters and brave resistors in Lebanon."

 

Hamas and Islamic Jihad are allies of Iran.

 

Last Monday, Iran’s Assembly of Experts appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as Supreme Leader, making him the third leader of the Islamic Republic since its founding in 1979.
