The Iranian news agency Mehr reported that Ayatollah Mohammad Mehdi Mirbagheri, a member of the Assembly of Experts, announced on Sunday that a majority consensus has been reached on selecting a successor to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.”
According to the report, he added that there are "some obstacles" that still remain in this process.
Iranian media said the body responsible for appointing Iran’s supreme leader had a minor disagreement over whether the final decision should be made during an in-person meeting or announced without following this formal procedure.
