An American official informed Axios reporter Barak Ravid that Iranian Kurdish factions have launched a ground attack in northwestern Iran, marking a new development on the ground in the ongoing conflict with Tehran.

The site reported that US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Kurdish leaders in Iraq last Sunday to discuss developments in the US-Israeli war with Iran and potential scenarios for the next phase.

According to sources familiar with the call, Trump discussed with Kurdish leaders their potential role in military developments, given the presence of thousands of Kurdish fighters along the Iraq‑Iran border and their ability to influence the course of the confrontation.

Fox News also reported that thousands of Iraqi Kurdish fighters launched a ground attack inside Iran amid the escalating regional confrontation.

Conversely, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the US military does not arm any insurgent movement within Iran, though he noted the possible involvement of other parties within the US government.

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt denied reports that the Trump administration approved arming Kurdish forces, affirming that the president had communications with regional leaders, including Kurdish leaders, but any report of his approval of an arming plan is "completely false."

Similarly, Al‑Monitor reported that a coalition of six Iranian Kurdish groups is preparing to enter Iran within days to participate in the US‑Israeli campaign against the Iranian regime. These forces may cross the border through areas in Iraq’s Kurdistan region near Haji Omran and Bashmaq.
