As the renewed war in Lebanon enters its thirteenth day, military escalation continues at a high pace, with Israeli airstrikes intensifying across several areas, particularly in Beirut and the south of the country, while reciprocal rocket attacks persist.

In the latest field developments, an Israeli airstrike today once again targeted the Nabaa–Bourj Hammoud area in the Matn district.

The same building that was hit by yesterday’s strike was targeted again, but this time another floor was affected.

Preliminary reports indicate that there has been one casualty.

Burj Quallawiyah

After midnight, warplanes targeted the primary healthcare center in Burj Quallawiyah in the Bint Jbeil district, “resulting in the deaths of 12 doctors, nurses, and paramedics working at the center,” according to the Ministry of Public Health.

The Ministry of Public Health mourned “the healthcare workers in Burj Quallawiyah who were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the town’s primary healthcare center.”

The ministry said in a statement: “Twelve doctors, paramedics, and nurses who were on duty at the center were killed, in addition to one healthcare worker who was injured.”

It added: “We condemn this attack on a center that is part of our primary healthcare network spread across Lebanon.”

The ministry reiterated its denunciation of the “continued violent attacks against healthcare workers, which violate all international humanitarian laws, noting that this was the second attack within a few hours, following the attack on paramedics in Sawana.”

Israeli Army

The Israeli army claimed that Hezbollah uses medical facilities and ambulances for military purposes.

It warned on X that “if this practice does not stop, Israel will act under international law against any military activity by Hezbollah using these facilities and ambulances.”

Khiam Clashes

The city of Khiam in southern Lebanon witnessed heavy clashes on Saturday between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces, involving exchanges of artillery and rocket fire.

Reports indicated that “Israeli attempts to advance in the eastern neighborhood of the city were repelled, while explosions were heard from attacks on Israeli vehicles.”

According to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, the Israeli army is reportedly covering the area with artillery and helicopters.

Hezbollah, in a statement, said it targeted “a gathering of Israeli soldiers near the Khiam municipality with rocket fire.”

Expansion of Ground Operations

Meanwhile, the American website Axios, citing Israeli and U.S. sources, reported that “Israel plans to significantly expand its ground operations in Lebanon, aiming to control the entire area south of the Litani River and dismantle Hezbollah’s military infrastructure.”

A senior Israeli official said, “We will do in Lebanon what we did in Gaza,” adding, “Our goal is to push Hezbollah away from the border, seize territory, and dismantle its military sites and weapons depots in the villages.”

He added that “the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump asked Israel not to target Beirut International Airport or any other Lebanese government infrastructure during the military operation. Israel agreed to spare the airport but did not commit to protecting the other government facilities.”

As the scope of the attacks widens and the pace of military operations increases, concerns are growing about the conflict escalating into a more dangerous phase, while reports suggest the possibility of expanded military operations and potentially broader ground engagements.
