Gulf states on high alert as Iranian attacks continue

Air defenses in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar intercept missiles and drones, while Oman faces U.S. evacuation orders amid escalating regional tensions.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia announced interception operations on their territories early Saturday morning local time, while Bahrain urged residents to take shelter as Iranian attacks continued across the region.

 

Here are the latest developments from the Gulf countries:

United Arab Emirates

Fujairah Government Media Office
The Fujairah Government Media Office in the UAE reported today that a fire broke out in the emirate, a major hub for fueling ships, after debris fell during the interception of a drone, with no injuries reported.

Civil defense teams are working to control the fire.

Dubai authorities stated that debris from a successful interception struck a building in the city center. The Dubai Government Media Office confirmed around 7 a.m. local time that there were no fires or injuries.

Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced a wave of attempted aerial attacks since midnight. Air defenses intercepted 19 drones, 16 of them in the Eastern Province, as well as a ballistic missile fired toward the Al-Kharj area in the city center.

Qatar

The Qatari Ministry of Defense also reported that the armed forces intercepted a missile attack targeting the country. CNN reported hearing loud sounds resulting from the interception. The Ministry of Interior announced the evacuation of several specific areas as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.

Bahrain

In Bahrain, sirens sounded shortly after 1 a.m. local time, according to the Ministry of Interior, which urged residents to go to the nearest safe location.

The Bahrain Defense Force also announced that it had intercepted and destroyed 124 missiles and 203 drones since the start of the Iranian attacks on the kingdom.

 

Oman

Late Friday evening, the U.S. State Department ordered non-essential U.S. government staff and their families to leave Oman due to security risks.

At the same time, official media reported that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated U.S. interests in the UAE, including ports, shipyards, and military sites, are legitimate targets following the U.S. attack on Iranian islands.
