Channel 13 reported today, Thursday, that Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned last night during a cabinet meeting that “the Israeli army is on the brink of collapse.” In addition, ten serious warnings were issued during the meeting, which were not disclosed due to their sensitive security nature.

Compulsory recruitment

Zamir added, “The Israeli army is in dire need of a compulsory recruitment law, a reserve law, and a law to extend mandatory service. The reserve forces cannot withstand it.” Channel 13 noted that the Chief of Staff made these “serious statements” to the Prime Minister, defense establishment leaders, and ministers. So far, no response has been issued by the Israeli army.

Scope of operations

Informed sources told the Broadcasting Authority that the Israeli army warns that the scope of operations is constantly expanding: military activity in southern Lebanon is widening, the army’s control over about half of the Gaza Strip continues, and new settlements are being added in the occupied territories, while the number of soldiers not only does not increase but also decreases after the cancellation of the extension of regular military service. According to the current legal situation, the duration of soldiers’ service will be reduced to 30 months in January.

According to the sources, the Chief of Staff added, “We urgently need more personnel and soldiers, and the army will collapse if this situation is not resolved. I am raising many concerns.”

West Bank

According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority “Kan,” the Israeli cabinet meeting also approved the establishment of new Jewish settlements in the West Bank yesterday, Wednesday.
