Papal ambassador visits southern Lebanon amid growing hardships
Annahar followed today the visit of Papal Ambassador Paolo Borgia, sent by the Vatican, to the Christian border villages in southern Lebanon, particularly in Kawkaba, Marjayoun, and Qlayaa.
The Papal Ambassador, accompanied by the head of Caritas in Lebanon, met with several local residents, where he learned about the extent of their suffering and listened to their outcry over the security situation and the resulting deterioration of living conditions.
Several residents told Annahar, "We want peace. We fear for our lives, and most services are suspended."
They confirmed that some Lebanese army personnel are still present on the ground, expressing the state of fear they are experiencing.
They stressed that this visit is very important to them, particularly given the current situation.
Today, a convoy of 15 trucks carrying various relief supplies arrived in the Christian villages of the Marjeyoun district and was unloaded in the town of Qlayaa under the supervision of Mayor Hanna Daher.
