U.S.-brokered Lebanon–Israel ceasefire extended as Trump hosts high-level talks at White House
Lebanon's Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, welcomed the extension of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire for an additional three weeks starting Sunday, describing this step as a mutual commitment to de-escalation and to creating the necessary conditions for meaningful negotiations.

Moawad thanked Donald Trump for his commitment to supporting Lebanon and advancing efforts to enhance security and stability.
Moawad also called for full compliance with the ceasefire announcement, emphasizing that protecting civilians—including journalists and humanitarian workers—as well as infrastructure and religious sites remains a top priority.
Moawad reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to its internationally recognized borders and stated that the Lebanese state continues to take tangible measures to maintain security and enhance stability.

Extension of the ceasefire
Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel for an additional three weeks, following a meeting held in the Oval Office in Washington with senior officials from both Lebanese and Israeli sides.
Donald Trump noted that the meeting, which was attended by JD Vance and Marco Rubio, as well as Mike Huckabee and Michel Issa, “went very well."
He added that the United States will work with Lebanon to help it protect itself from Hezbollah, expressing his eagerness to welcome both Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington soon.
Trump stated that Israel should defend itself if it comes under missile attacks, “but it should be done cautiously.” He added that the peace file in Lebanon is “relatively easier compared to other files the administration is currently working on,” stressing that Iran must stop its funding of Hezbollah.
On his part, Marco Rubio said that Lebanon and Israel “desire peace” and consider themselves “victims of Hezbollah,” expecting progress towards “lasting peace between the two sides within weeks.”
JD Vance described the extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel for three weeks as a “major historic moment for the world,” noting that the direct meeting between the leaders of the two countries in the Oval Office was made possible thanks to Donald Trump’s efforts.
Mike Huckabee also confirmed that Israel seeks peace with Lebanon, while Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States expressed her gratitude to Donald Trump for his support and assistance to Lebanon.
