In an interview with Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump said the Iran war is “very close” to its end amid a two-week ceasefire, of which one week has already passed.

He said, “I think it is close to ending. Yes, I see it as very close to ending. However, the United States is not finished yet.”

He continued, “If we withdrew now, it would take 20 years to rebuild that country. We are not finished yet. We will see what happens. I think they are very eager to make a deal.”

He said the United States justified its involvement in the war by saying it was “necessary to disarm Iran of its nuclear capability.”

He said, “I had to change course because if I hadn’t, Iran would have a nuclear weapon now. And if they had a nuclear weapon, you’d be calling everyone there "Sir," and that’s what we don’t want.”

He added, “The economy will fully recover after the war and oil prices will return to what they were, perhaps even lower.”

And when Trump was asked whether there was any objection from China or Saudi Arabia to the blockade, he said, “No, there was no objection.”
