The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that it will act “firmly” against any military ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state television on Sunday, following the announcement by U.S. Central Command that two of its warships had passed through the strategic channel as part of an operation to clear mines allegedly laid by Tehran.

The Iranian Radio and Television Corporation, reporting from the Revolutionary Guard’s naval leadership, stated that “any attempt by military ships to cross the Strait of Hormuz will be met with firmness. The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard have full authority to manage the Strait of Hormuz wisely,” adding that passage through the strait “will only be granted to civilian ships according to specific regulations.”
