GCC nations condemn attack on UAE embassy in Damascus, vow full solidarity

Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait strongly condemned the attack on the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Damascus.

The three countries affirmed their full solidarity with the UAE, viewing the targeting of diplomatic missions as a violation of international law and norms.

The State of Qatar strongly condemned the attack on the UAE Embassy in Damascus, called for the perpetrators to be held accountable, and affirmed its full solidarity with the UAE.

The Kingdom of Bahrain also condemned the attack, deeming the targeting of the embassy a blatant violation of international law and norms, and affirmed its full solidarity with the UAE.

Kuwait, in turn, condemned the assault, emphasizing that targeting diplomatic missions violates international law and describing the attack as a breach of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned and denounced on Saturday the “acts of riot, attempts to vandalize property, and assaults targeting the headquarters of its mission and the residence of its mission chief in the Syrian capital, Damascus.”

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed “its rejection and disapproval of the unacceptable insults to the nation’s symbols.”

It emphasized “the UAE's absolute rejection of such destructive practices,” noting “the necessity of protecting diplomatic premises, missions, and their personnel in accordance with international law and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full immunity for diplomatic buildings and their staff."
