Turkey announces 25% electricity and gas hike amid global energy turmoil
The Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority announced in a statement that a 25% increase in electricity and gas prices will take effect this Saturday.
The authority stated, "Due to the increase in electricity production and distribution costs, retail electricity prices have risen by 25%, and natural gas prices have also been increased by an average of 25% for residential consumers."
Under these adjustments, the bill for a residential subscriber consuming 100 kWh will rise to 323.8 Turkish Lira (6.29 Euros).

The authority clarified that increases ranging from 5.8% to 24.8% will also take effect this Saturday for consumers in the industrial, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
Tightening by Iran on ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz since the U.S.–Israeli attack on it on February 28 has led to a sharp increase in oil and gas prices in global markets.
