UAE strongly condemns attacks on its embassy in Damascus
The United Arab Emirates expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation today, Saturday, of the riots, attempts to vandalize property, and attacks targeting the headquarters of its mission and the residence of its mission chief in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it affirmed its rejection and strong disapproval of the unacceptable insults directed at the country’s national symbols.
It stressed the UAE’s firm rejection of such destructive actions, noting the necessity of protecting diplomatic premises and personnel in accordance with international laws and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full immunity for diplomatic buildings and their staff.
It called on the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic to fulfill its duties in securing the embassy and its personnel, to investigate the circumstances of these attacks, to ensure they are not repeated in the future, and to take all necessary legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.
