Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation, announced a new attendance record at Madison Square Garden in New York, United States, after more than 21,000 spectators gathered to watch the Ring 6 boxing match.

This marks the highest attendance in the venue’s modern history since its opening in 1968, placing the event among the most attended boxing nights in modern New York history. The achievement is credited to The Ring magazine and Sela, which delivered an exceptional event that reignited momentum at one of the world’s most historic boxing venues.

This record-setting attendance occasioned the staging of Ring 6, which featured a thrilling night of boxing highlighted by the main event between rising American star Shakur Stevenson and his rival Teofimo Lopez. The bout drew widespread fan and media attention and played a key role in driving the unprecedented turnout inside the arena.

This figure stands as the highest attendance ever recorded among all boxing matches hosted at Madison Square Garden over more than five decades, an extraordinary achievement reflecting the strong momentum of global interest in boxing.

The significance of this record is further underscored by the architectural constraints of Madison Square Garden, whose design and boxing-specific configurations impose clear limitations on seating capacity compared to other event formats. As such, surpassing the 21,000-spectator mark represents an exceptional accomplishment.

This historic turnout reaffirms Madison Square Garden’s symbolic stature as the most iconic and prestigious stage in the history of world boxing, long associated with legendary bouts and champions, and continuing to uphold its historic and sporting legacy to this day.
