The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off with a $7 million prize at stake
Morocco has officially opened its doors to 24 national teams as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations gets underway, running from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Fans are eagerly following the competition, hoping the host nation can end a 50-year title drought ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
This marks Morocco’s second time hosting Africa’s premier football tournament, after the 1988 edition.

Below are the financial prizes for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco:
$500,000: Teams finishing fourth in the group stage
$700,000: Third-place teams eliminated in the group stage (did not qualify for the round of 16)
$800,000: Teams eliminated in the round of 16
$1.3 million: Teams eliminated in the quarterfinals
$2.5 million: Losing teams in the semifinals
$4 million: Runner-up
$7 million: Champion
