Global reactions erupt following Khamenei’s death in US-Israeli strike
Iran on Sunday confirmed the killing of the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the American-Israeli attack on Tehran. Below are the main reactions to Khamenei's death.
- Iran -
The Revolutionary Guard condemned the "criminal and terrorist act of to America and the Zionist entity, which constitutes a blatant violation of religious, moral, legal, and international norms," emphasizing that "the hand of the Iranian people's revenge will not leave the perpetrators of the crime without severe and decisive punishment."
On Sunday, state television announced a 40-day mourning period and a seven-day public holiday following the killing of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, who had been in power since 1989. The TV announcer said, "With the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader, his path and mission will not be lost or forgotten. On the contrary, they will continue with more strength and passion."

- United States -
"Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty thugs."

- Israel -
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that Khamenei “has been eliminated… along with senior officials at the heart of Iranian terror.” He added that “justice has been served, and the axis of evil has received a severe blow,” and affirmed: “We will continue to act decisively to protect the State of Israel.”
- Son of the Shah of Iran -
“With his death, the Islamic Republic has effectively come to an end and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history,” wrote Reza Pahlavi on X, adding, “For the military, security, and police forces, any attempt to support a collapsing regime is doomed to failure.”

- Iraq -
Iraq declared three days of mourning for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The leader of the National Shia Movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, expressed his condolences in a statement to "the entire Islamic world," while the "Coordination Framework" coalition, composed of Shia parties close to Iran, asserted that "the blood of the martyr commander Imam will remain a beacon for all generations and an ongoing shout against tyranny and usurpers," and that "the curse will continue to hunt down the Zionist killers as long as time endures."
In Baghdad, hundreds attempted to storm the fortified Green Zone, home to the American embassy.
- Australia -Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic will “not be mourned,” telling the media that “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei oversaw the regime’s nuclear and ballistic programs, the support given to armed groups, and the brutal acts of violence and intimidation committed against his people.”
