The head of the Federation of Tourism Syndicates and the head of the Hotel Owners' Syndicate in Lebanon, Pierre Achkar, confirmed today, Thursday, that "we can say that hotels are now far from the risk of being targeted, as was the case previously, thanks to their strict adherence to measures implemented in cooperation with the relevant security forces to verify the identity of guests."

In a statement, Ashkar pointed out that "hotel owners fear for their properties, and the same goes for employees who fear for their lives," noting that "customers, if they do not perceive the existence of adequate procedures, refrain from booking at the hotel. Therefore, it can be said that there is a very significant commitment to the security measures implemented within hotels."

He explained that "upon the arrival of a guest, their personal data is sent to the Public Security, which has a database that allows it to detect any issues if they arise, God forbid."

Additionally, he revealed that "the occupancy rate in hotels currently ranges between 9 and 11%, and not all of them are displaced persons. It also includes journalists and some embassy employees who moved to hotels due to the relatively tense areas where their homes are located, in addition to guests who have entered into long-term residency agreements with hotels at reasonable rates."

Earlier, the Israeli army targeted the "Ramada" Hotel in the Rawouche area and the "Comfort" Hotel in Hazmieh, claiming that it was targeting leaders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
