President Aoun meets Jumblatt: Urgent dialogue on security and shelter crisis
President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, received former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt and the party’s current head, MP Taymour Jumblatt, during which the general situation in the country was discussed.
After the meeting, Walid Jumblatt said: "The speech of the President of the Republic is based on the truce and international resolutions, and this provides a starting point for any negotiation process if needed."
He added: "Thanks to everyone following the issue of shelter, while emphasizing that more is required at this stage."
Jumblatt also noted that "the battle may be long, but the priority is to resolve the crisis as quickly as possible."
He paid tribute to the Lebanese army, expressing surprise at any attacks against it during times of crisis.
He said: "Our duties at this stage are dialogue, internal security, and the issue of displaced persons," calling for the use of prefabricated houses as an alternative to tents to improve shelter conditions.
Aoun also reviewed the security situation in the country in general and in the south in particular with Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, and he requested the reinforcement of security measures across all Lebanese regions, especially in Beirut, while ensuring the safety and security of shelter centers.
