Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi heads to the United Arab Emirates today, Monday, on a fraternal visit.

According to the Egyptian presidency statement, El-Sisi will meet during his visit with his brother, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, emphasizing the leaders’ commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields and to enhancing consultation and coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The leaders meet regularly to discuss key issues on the regional and global political stage.

The two countries share strong political and economic ties, with the Emirati Sovereign Fund and major Emirati companies undertaking significant projects in Egypt’s real estate, tourism, oil, gas, and natural resources sectors.

In 2023, Egypt and the UAE signed a local currency swap agreement, allowing the exchange of goods and commodities between the two countries using their respective local currencies, totaling approximately five billion Emirati dirhams and 42 billion Egyptian pounds.

In the 2023/2024 financial year, Egypt attracted around 41.5 billion dollars in Arab investments, with the UAE as the largest Arab investor, contributing approximately 38.9 billion dollars of this total.

The history of Egyptian-UAE relations dates back to before 1971, the year that saw the unification of the seven emirates into a single state under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Egypt fully supported and endorsed the formation of the United Arab Emirates.
