A new Guinness Record: The world’s tallest planted Christmas tree
At the Cragside site in Northumberland, England, the giant Wellingtonia tree, a redwood (Sequoia) planted in the 19th century, rises to an astonishing height of 44.70 meters, earning its official recognition by Guinness World Records as the tallest planted Christmas tree in the world.
The historic tree, already considered one of the site’s most beloved landmarks, was turned into a remarkable festive scene after being adorned with a thousand colorful lights and massive ribbons glittering among its branches.
Visitors gathered to witness this glowing giant, which has now secured a world record in the Guinness Book.
Regarding this achievement, Steve Howard, Visitor Operations Manager at Cragside, told Guinness World Records: "It has been a year of eventful planning."
He added: "Last year, we presented the UK's tallest living Christmas tree, and we kept wondering whether we could take a giant step further and claim a Guinness World Records title… and we succeeded!”
