Macron backs Lebanese sovereignty and promises international support
French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday welcomed “encouraging statements made by the Lebanese authorities to restore the state’s exclusive control over weapons.”
In a post on his account on X, he wrote:
“We must move forward decisively in this process. The second phase of the plan will be a decisive step.”
He added: “All parties must fully respect the ceasefire agreement and restore Lebanon’s full sovereignty.”

Macron expressed his “full support for President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam,” affirming that “the Lebanese people can count on us.”
Macron also said that “France, alongside its partners, will remain fully committed to Lebanon and its army.”
He noted that “an international conference will soon be held in Paris to provide Lebanon and its army with concrete means to guarantee this sovereignty.”
