Egypt coach Ibrahim Hassan in tears as Pharaohs celebrate historic World Cup achievement
The former national team star and current manager honors Egypt's first-ever qualification to the World Cup knockout stage after a landmark 2026 campaign
Egypt's team manager, Ibrahim Hassan, could not hold back his tears during a public celebration honoring the "Pharaohs" players at Cairo Stadium, following their historic achievement of reaching the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup marked a milestone for Egypt, as the team qualified for the knockout stage for the first time in its history and secured its first-ever World Cup victory with a 3-1 win over New Zealand.
The Egyptian delegation arrived from the United States last Friday morning after concluding its World Cup campaign with a 2-3 defeat to Argentina.
Upon their arrival at Al-Alamein International Airport, the team received a tribute from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

A Public Celebration for Egypt's Team
Cairo Stadium hosted a public celebration attended by thousands of Egyptian supporters, featuring musical and singing performances with the participation of star Tamer Hosny.
The stadium's main screen displayed highlights from Egypt's World Cup journey, an emotional moment that brought Ibrahim Hassan to tears.

The celebration, however, saw the absence of several prominent stars, most notably Mohamed Salah, the former Liverpool player, Omar Marmoush, the former Manchester City striker, and Haitham Hassan of Spain's Real Oviedo.
Also absent were Hamza Abdel Karim, Barcelona's rising striker; Rami Rabia, the UAE's Al Ain defender; Hamdi Fathi, Qatar's Al-Wakrah defender; and Mohamed El-Shenawy, Al Ahly's goalkeeper.
