Bahrain accuses Iran of targeting civilians as regional tensions escalate
US and Iranian forces exchange missile and drone attacks, Bahrain says its air defenses intercepted Iranian strikes, and renewed threats to close the Strait of Hormuz drive oil prices higher.
The Bahraini military accused Iran on Monday of targeting civilians as part of a "systematic hostile approach" following new attacks on the Gulf kingdom, while Iran said it had "targeted US military facilities and infrastructure in Bahrain."
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force said in a statement that "Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its criminal attacks using missiles and drones targeting civilians in the Kingdom of Bahrain."
It added that the air defense systems "intercepted and destroyed a number of the treacherous Iranian aerial attacks" on Monday morning.
