EU Ambassadors

Berri also received at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El Tineh the ambassadors of European Union member states accredited to Lebanon, as well as the ambassadors of Britain, Australia, and Switzerland, in the presence of EU Ambassador to Lebanon Sandra De Waele. The meeting addressed the general situation in Lebanon and the region, with discussions focusing on financial and economic reforms and reconstruction.

Berri told the ambassadors that the Parliament is moving forward with completing the legislation and laws related to restructuring the banking sector, following the government’s resubmission of the law in its new version, which is in line with the observations of the International Monetary Fund.

He stressed that the Parliament, with the unanimous support of its members, is committed to ensuring full protection of deposits through the financial gap law, considering this one of the key factors facilitating reconstruction.
