Results of Ministers' Field Tours to Southern Villages on the Serail Table

The Cabinet held its regular ministerial meeting this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam. According to Information Minister Paul Morcos, ministers reviewed the results of their field visits to villages and towns in southern Lebanon. Discussions focused on ways to facilitate the return of residents to their villages and ensure the availability of adequate and appropriate housing.

The meeting also addressed support for municipalities and local economic sectors to encourage residents' return, paving the way for the launch of the reconstruction process.

Ministers discussed the state of the education sector in the south ahead of the new academic year, as well as the requirements needed to ensure its smooth operation. Morcos added that road-opening works and debris removal, which have already begun, were also reviewed.

According to preliminary estimates presented during the meeting, the direct material cost of the war is between $3 billion and $4 billion, excluding economic losses, indirect damages, and the damages resulting from the first support war.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Salam instructed the relevant ministers to accelerate and complete the necessary measures to facilitate the return of displaced residents, ensure the provision of essential services by the competent ministries, and strengthen coordination among them to achieve this objective.
