Damascus, Riyadh Discuss Expanding Cooperation in Water and Infrastructure

Syrian and Saudi officials explored ways to strengthen cooperation in water management, infrastructure development, and modern technologies during bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 7th Arab Water Forum.

The Syrian Assistant Minister of Energy for Water and Electricity Affairs, Osama Abu Zaid, met with Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Mansour bin Hilal Al Mushaiti on the sidelines of the Syrian delegation’s participation in the 7th Arab Water Forum, held as part of Saudi Water Week in Jeddah.

 

 

The Ministry of Energy said that the meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the water sector, including the exchange of expertise in integrated water resource management, digital transformation, improving operational efficiency, and developing infrastructure, in order to support water security and promote sustainable development.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of expanding technical and institutional partnerships, drawing on Saudi Arabia’s pioneering experience in developing the water sector, and supporting joint initiatives in innovation, capacity building, and modern technologies, according to the SANA news agency.

This meeting is part of a series of bilateral meetings held by the Syrian delegation during its participation in the forum, aimed at strengthening cooperation with Saudi Arabia and benefiting from its expertise in developing the water sector.
