Diplomatic efforts to implement the terms of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran continue, despite the rounds of strikes exchanged between the two sides.

American network MS Now reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during a closed-door briefing before Congress, said President Donald Trump's administration "is under no illusion that negotiations with Iran will be easy," acknowledging that they could ultimately fail. However, he stressed that diplomacy must be given a chance.

According to Politico, Rubio and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff assured lawmakers that Iran has not yet received any funds under the memorandum of understanding, adding that the objective of the negotiations remains to reach an agreement preventing Tehran from retaining highly enriched uranium.

Witkoff also informed members of Congress that the technical team overseeing the nuclear negotiations had departed Switzerland for Qatar.

In this context, 'Fox News' reported, quoting a U.S. official, that Witkoff and Jared Kushner will continue the regional dialogue on various aspects of the memorandum of understanding, with technical talks related to the agreement with Iran expected to continue this week.

Earlier, Trump announced that Iran had requested a meeting to be held on Tuesday in Doha, writing on the Truth Social platform: "Iran requested a meeting... which will be held tomorrow in Doha."

Subsequently, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Doha to participate in high-level meetings later this week.

A well-informed diplomat told Agence France-Presse that technical teams are expected to meet in the coming days, confirming that communication channels between the two sides remain open to help contain tensions.

An American official told the agency that technical talks will continue on various provisions of the memorandum of understanding, adding that both sides will maintain a halt to mutual attacks for the time being, allowing the free passage of ships through and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Conversely, Tehran denied any plans to hold technical-level negotiations with the United States, but announced that a specialized delegation will travel to Doha later this week.
