Israeli Army says it killed “several militants” in southern Syria amid expanded military presence
Israel confirms ongoing operations in southern Syria, vowing an indefinite security presence across key border zones.
The Israeli army announced on Sunday the killing of “several militants” in southern Syria.
The army said in a statement that its forces “killed a number of militants in the security zone in southern Syria on Saturday.” It added that it “will continue to conduct operations in the security zone in southern Syria and remove any threat to the citizens of Israel and its forces.”

Israel has expanded its troop deployment in southern Syria to Mount Hermon and beyond the demilitarized zone in the Golan, following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in 2024. Defense Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed that Israel will remain in this region, as in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, “for an indefinite period” to eliminate any threat.
