The Lebanese President Joseph Aoun praised the statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), affirming that it reflects the depth of the brotherly and historical relations that unite Lebanon with the GCC states, as well as their support for Lebanon and its people in facing the current challenges.

Aoun also commended the GCC countries’ emphasis on the importance of preserving Lebanon’s security, stability, and territorial integrity, and their support for the reform process and strengthening state institutions, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a strong, capable, and just state.

The Lebanese President also expressed his appreciation for the GCC countries’ call to extend the Lebanese state’s sovereignty over all its territory and to restrict weapons to legitimate state institutions, in line with the provisions of the Lebanese Constitution and relevant international resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 1701, in addition to the decisions issued by the Lebanese government on this matter.

Aoun also affirmed his gratitude for the Gulf states’ readiness to continue supporting Lebanon at both the humanitarian and development levels, contributing to easing economic burdens and improving the living conditions of the Lebanese people.

He stressed that Lebanon will remain keen to strengthen the best relations with its Arab sister countries, especially the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and to develop them across various fields in a way that serves mutual interests and enhances stability in the region.
