US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized on Wednesday that a large share of frozen Iranian assets will be used to purchase food and medicines from the United States, confirming remarks previously made by President Donald Trump on the matter.

 

However, Iran says it is the one that will determine how these funds are spent.

In an interview with CNBC, Bessent noted that the US Treasury Department will oversee these funds from Doha.
