The Egyptian national team celebrated its captain Mohamed Salah on the occasion of his 34th birthday, which falls today, Monday 15 June, just hours before the team faces Belgium in the opening match of the Pharaohs’ World Cup journey.

 

The official account of the Egyptian national team posted a congratulatory message on Facebook for the Egyptian star, which read: “Happy birthday, King,” in reference to the great status Salah enjoys within the national team and among fans.

 

 


 

Mohamed Salah's journey: from Nagrig to global stardom

 

Mohamed Salah was born in the village of Nagrig in Gharbia Governorate in 1992, and he began his football career in Egyptian pitches before making his first professional move to Swiss club Basel, where his talent emerged and caught the attention of European clubs.

 

He later moved to Chelsea, before going on to successful spells with Fiorentina and Roma, ultimately reaching his greatest breakthrough at Liverpool, where he became one of the club’s most prominent stars and top scorers in the modern era.


Mohamed Salah contributed to leading Liverpool to numerous major titles, most notably the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League, and he also broke many individual records during his career with the “Reds.”

 

At the international level, he played a key role in guiding Egypt to the 2018 and 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, in addition to helping the “Pharaohs” reach the advanced stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

 

 

A special tribute from Liverpool

 

Liverpool FC was keen to celebrate the birthday of its Egyptian star, posting on its official accounts a photo featuring Salah’s most iconic moments in the club’s shirt, accompanied by the message: “Happy birthday, Egyptian King.”

 

The club also highlighted his key achievements since joining in 2017, praising his consistency and major impact both on and off the pitch.


Egyptian fans also celebrated their captain’s birthday in the streets and in the stadium stands ahead of the highly anticipated match against Belgium in the opening round of Group 7 of the U.S. World Cup.
