As an increasing share of financial activity shifts to digital environments and new forms of crime linked to crypto assets and virtual platforms continue to emerge, Dubai Police Academy has announced the launch of a specialized Master's program in combating money laundering in virtual environments.

The initiative aims to prepare professionals who combine legal expertise, investigative experience, and the technical capabilities required to address this evolving category of crime.

The one-year program focuses on anti-money laundering frameworks, financial intelligence, artificial intelligence, and blockchain analysis. It is designed to equip professionals in the security, police, and legal sectors with the skills needed to identify, analyze, and track suspicious financial activities across both traditional banking systems and digital platforms.

Its curriculum includes specialized courses covering cryptocurrency-related investigations, forensic blockchain analysis, financial intelligence methodologies, banking compliance, digital evidence, and the use of artificial intelligence technologies to detect illicit financial transactions.

Participants will also examine the risks of money laundering in virtual environments and the metaverse through practical case studies drawn from investigations conducted by Dubai Police, bridging academic learning with real-world applications.

According to Dubai Police Academy, the program seeks to develop specialized national expertise that supports the UAE's efforts to strengthen financial security and cybersecurity.

It also aims to enhance cooperation among financial intelligence units, digital forensic teams, criminal investigators, and relevant regulatory authorities.
