President Joseph Aoun stressed that "we will not withdraw from the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel despite the pressures, and we will continue this path until we reach outcomes that serve our country's interests."

He called for "bringing the state of hostility with Israel to an end through the following steps: Israeli withdrawal, the cessation of attacks, the deployment of the Lebanese Army, and the return of displaced persons and prisoners."

Speaking today at the Baabda Palace before a delegation from the Culture and Freedom Foundation headed by former minister Ibrahim Najjar, Aoun said: "Our choice remains the State because it protects all of us, and we must be convinced that we are a sovereign state."

He added that "the positions attained by public officials are not a privilege but a responsibility. A person must either rise to the level of those responsibilities and the weight of the decisions they entail or remain at home."
