Saudi Arabia moves to resume Lebanese exports amid renewed cooperation with Beirut

Lebanese officials welcome the decision as a boost for the economy and a sign of renewed confidence in state institutions, while both sides emphasize strengthened bilateral ties and future coordination.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held a phone call today with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, during which he conveyed instructions from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to resume Lebanese exports to the Kingdom.

 

This comes following a request from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and the Prime Minister, and in line with the positive steps taken by the Lebanese government on the path of rebuilding state institutions, as well as what the specialized teams accomplished throughout the past year, and the Lebanese side’s cooperation with them and its provision of the required commitments, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

 

The Saudi Foreign Minister affirmed during the call the Kingdom’s support for Lebanon’s stability, its sovereignty over all its territory, and the well-being of its people.

 

He also expressed the Kingdom’s confidence that Lebanon’s brothers will take all necessary measures to ensure that Lebanon is not used as a platform to harm its brothers.

Aoun: "The entire Lebanese people deeply appreciate this decision"

 

He expressed his strong gratitude and appreciation to the Crown Prince for his decision to resume importing Lebanese products into the Kingdom, saying that this decision reflects a sincere expression of the deep Arab brotherhood that unites the two brotherly countries, and embodies the commitment of the Saudi leadership to supporting Lebanon and its people during the phase of recovery and rebuilding it is going through.

 

The President emphasized that this positive step will make a tangible contribution to revitalizing the national economy and supporting a wide range of Lebanese producers and exporters. He also stressed that the entire Lebanese people hold deep gratitude and appreciation for this decision and view it as an initiative that strengthens the path of Lebanese Saudi relations rooted in historical ties and a shared destiny.

He also thanked Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a post on the platform X for the “generous decision to lift the ban on Lebanese exports,” which he said reflects the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between the two brotherly countries.

 

He considered that this decision embodies Saudi Arabia’s confidence in Lebanon and the shared commitment to strengthening economic and commercial cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both peoples. He added that it represents an important step that will support the Lebanese economy and open new opportunities for Lebanese producers and exporters, contributing to greater growth and stability in Lebanon.

 

Salam further stated that the Lebanese state looks forward to continuing work and coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to strengthen ties of cooperation and partnership in various fields in a way that brings prosperity and benefit to both countries. He also extended thanks to Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan for his diligent follow up of this file until it reached a successful conclusion.

 

Commenting on the Saudi decision, Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmed Al Hajjar confirmed that necessary measures are being taken to secure and regulate Lebanon’s border crossings. He viewed the decision as the beginning of renewed confidence in Lebanese state institutions, adding that Saudi Arabia seeks to support the Lebanese state and that its sole objective is the well-being of the Lebanese people.

 

Separately, Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani expressed his gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for reopening the Saudi market to Lebanese exports. In a post on his Facebook page, he said that this decision represents a vital lifeline for Lebanon’s agricultural sector and a long-awaited step for Lebanese farmers and producers, reflecting the depth of the fraternal relations between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
