The embassy published an image showing a map of Iran with a map of Lebanon at its center, accompanied by the caption, "Lebanon is the heart of Iran." The post triggered a storm of reactions online.

Many users argued that Tehran had brought devastation upon their country and that Hezbollah had dragged Lebanon into a war in which it had no part to play, while others called for an end to interference in Lebanese affairs.

This came only days after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun sharply criticized Tehran, urging it to stop interfering in his country's internal affairs. He stated that the Iranian authorities were using Lebanon as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the United States.

The developments also followed Iran's insistence that any ceasefire in Lebanon should form part of the broader understanding it seeks to reach with Washington.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz vowed to continue the military campaign against Hezbollah, dismissing the Iranian warning and stressing that "his army would strike Beirut's southern suburbs in response to every attack on northern Israel."
