Israeli military source says strikes on Lebanon or Beirut’s southern suburb could happen “if necessary”
Tensions rise as Israel signals continued readiness to strike Lebanon and comments on Iran’s military response.
Israeli threats to target the southern suburb of Beirut continue despite attempts to establish a rule of engagement equating northern Israel with the southern suburb, following Iran’s military intervention in recent hours.
Maariv reported, quoting an Israeli military source, that if necessary to attack Lebanon or the southern suburb now, we will attack.
Regarding the Israeli attack on Iran early Monday, the Israeli military source told Maariv that they did not strike Iran’s ballistic missile launch platforms because this requires a different level of preparation.

He added: “We acted in a way that makes clear we are determined to prevent Iran from rebuilding its air defense system.”
The Israeli source also noted that Iran launched 20 missiles in 10 waves after 50 days of rehabilitation, and that this is a small number.
