The Port of Tripoli (Northern Lebanon) witnessed an exceptional event this Monday morning with the arrival of the giant container ship CMA CGM EUGENIE, the largest ship to dock at the port since its establishment. This event clearly reflects the growing prominence of the port on the international navigation and trade map, according to a statement from the port's administration.

The ship has a capacity of around 15,000 TEU, with a length of 366 meters, reflecting the advanced readiness level reached by the container station and operational infrastructure at the port, and its ability to accommodate the largest ships operating on global shipping lines, according to the statement.

In this context, Chairman of the Board and Investment of the Port of Tripoli Iskandar Bendali said, "The arrival of CMA CGM EUGENIE marks a pivotal moment in the journey of the Port of Tripoli and reflects the growing confidence major shipping companies have in the port and its operational capabilities," noting that "this achievement cements Tripoli's position as a central hub (Port Hub) for Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean."

He pointed out that "the strategic partnership with CMA CGM represents a successful cooperation model that opens new horizons for the port and enhances its role as a main gateway for trade and logistics services in the region."

Bendali thanked Minister of Public Works Fayez Rossamni for "his continuous support for the port and his strategic vision aimed at developing an integrated economic system in Northern Lebanon, combining the Port of Tripoli, the Special Economic Zone, the railway, and President Rene Mouawad Airport in Qleiat, contributing to transform the north into a regional center for transportation, services, and investment."

He thanked the management of CMA CGM for "their ongoing trust in the port," praising the "professional efforts exerted by the piloting station and maritime pilots who supervised the ship's entry and maneuvering with the highest levels of efficiency and safety, contributing to the successful completion of the operation. This event is seen as a qualitative step in the path of developing the Port of Tripoli and enhancing its regional presence and a practical translation of the vision aiming to make the port an advanced logistical platform and a fundamental hub for trade and maritime transportation movement in the Eastern Mediterranean."

In turn, the CEO of CMA CGM Charlie Darzé: "Hosting the ship CMA CGM EUGENIE at the Port of Tripoli marks a milestone in the development path of the maritime and logistics sectors in Lebanon. This ship, with a capacity of about 15,000 TEU, is the largest container ship to dock at the port to date."

He added, "This event is not limited to being an exceptional arrival of a ship this size but serves as clear evidence of the development achieved by the Port of Tripoli in terms of operational readiness, infrastructure, and logistics services, and its growing capacity to accommodate giant ships and adhere to the highest standards in the global maritime transport sector. This achievement reflects the CMA CGM group's long-term commitment to enhancing Lebanon's maritime connectivity and supporting its position as a promising logistics hub in the region, through developing navigation services, facilitating trade movement, improving the flow of container shipments, and reducing transit times, thereby opening up broader horizons for importers and exporters and enhancing the competitiveness of the Lebanese economy."

Practically speaking, Darzé noted that "this step will provide Lebanese companies with more effective logistics options, more regular operating schedules, and better access to regional and global markets. Receiving ships with such capacity opens the door for increased transshipment and transit operations through the Port of Tripoli, enhancing its position as a central hub for container movement and an advanced logistics option for companies operating in Northern Lebanon and neighboring areas, and as a promising commercial gateway in the region."
