Meanwhile, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation came in response to gunfire directed toward Israeli territory.

Israeli Channel 12 reported that three missiles fired by the Israeli Air Force struck two apartments in Beirut’s southern suburb.

"High-Value Target"

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation suggested that the strike may have been an assassination attempt, stating: "The strike on Beirut’s southern suburb could be an assassination operation, particularly because it came unexpectedly."

Israeli media, citing military and security sources, reported that the airstrike was carried out based on intelligence information and targeted what was described as a "high-value target."

Meanwhile, Israel’s Channel 14 quoted a security source as saying that the decision to carry out the strike was linked more to the location that was targeted than to the individual target itself.

Israeli Army Radio cited a military source as saying that the Israeli Air Force struck the target following intelligence guidance, adding that the military had instructed residents of northern Israel to prepare for the possibility of Hezbollah rocket fire in the coming hours.

Israel Reportedly Informed the United States

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Israel had informed the United States in advance of the attack targeting Beirut’s southern suburb.
