Seven missiles target Kuwait and Bahrain as explosions reported in southern Iran
Escalation spreads across Gulf amid missile exchanges and reported strikes.
In a new escalation that breaks the negotiation track between Tehran and Washington, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Saturday that it targeted “enemy bases” in the Gulf, according to state television, after US forces announced strikes on radar sites in Iran.
The Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement broadcast by state television that “enemy bases in the region were subjected to missile and aerial strikes.”
It considered that “the United States will be responsible for the consequences of the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas exports if American harm continues.”
On its part, the Kuwaiti army said it repelled missile and drone attacks, three days after Kuwait Airport was targeted.
It said in a statement on X that “Kuwaiti air defenses repelled hostile missile and drone attacks.”
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced that warning sirens were activated in the country. The ministry wrote on X: “The siren has been activated. We ask citizens and residents to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe place, and follow news through official channels.”

In this context, the US military stated that Iran launched 7 missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain, adding that 6 were intercepted while the last missile did not reach its target.
The US military wrote on X: “Iran launched 7 ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain (…) according to initial assessments, 6 were intercepted while the seventh did not reach its target.”
It added: “There are currently no reports of injuries among US personnel, and Iranian claims of damage to the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false.”
Strikes on radar sites
Earlier, on Friday, the US military announced that it had struck radar sites in Iran “in self-defense” after shooting down 4 Iranian drones that Washington said were threatening civilian maritime navigation in the region.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) wrote that US forces “shot down 4 drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz,” which constituted a “direct threat to regional maritime navigation.”
It added that “US forces then struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Garuk and Qeshm Island as part of self-defense against any further attacks,” noting that “US forces remain alert and ready to respond within the framework of legitimate self-defense to any unprovoked aggression from Iran.”
Iranian state television reported on Saturday that “several explosions were heard” in Sirik in southern Iran around 02:30 am (23:00 GMT on Friday).
The Wednesday attack on Kuwait Airport resulted in the death of one person and injuries to 63 others and caused damage to the country’s main airport.
