The strongest national teams heading to the 2026 World Cup enter with one goal: to win the most prestigious title in football.

In most cases, the teams that are considered favourites to win the trophy are also those with the highest market value worldwide, because a player’s value rises automatically when he improves his level and excels with his club.

A few days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, predictions have begun to highlight the best national teams in the world. France, Spain, Portugal, England, Argentina, Brazil, and Germany are considered the closest to lifting the golden trophy.

But which national teams currently have the highest market value according to the Transfermarkt website, as of 1 June 2026?

1-France

According to various media outlets and analysts, France is considered the leading favourite to win the 2026 World Cup. It has a well-balanced squad across all positions, as well as a strong bench capable of covering any gaps.

The French national team also tops the list of the highest market value national teams in the world, with a total value of 1.48 billion euros.

The most valuable player in the French squad is Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé, valued at 200 million euros.

2-England

Despite the fact that England’s German coach Thomas Tuchel surprised everyone with the squad he selected for the 2026 World Cup, the Three Lions still rank second in the world in terms of market value.

The market value of the England national team is 1.31 billion euros, with Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham topping the individual list at 140 million euros.

3-Spain

Spain is also considered one of the teams expected to compete for the title for a second time in its history. It has a mix of young talents and experienced players capable of going far in the tournament.

What is notable this year is that the squad does not include any player from Real Madrid, something fans are not used to at all.

The market value of La Roja is 1.27 billion euros, with Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal leading the team at 200 million euros.

4-Germany

Germany is considered the weakest side among the top national teams expected to compete for the World Cup title this year, as it was eliminated in the group stage in the last two editions (Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022). It also has a relatively average squad compared to other major teams.

In terms of market value, it ranks fourth with 1.02 billion euros, and Liverpool star Florian Wirtz is the most valuable player in the German national team at 110 million euros.

Wirtz has recently overtaken Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, whose value has dropped to 100 million euros due to a serious injury that kept him out of action for a long period.

5-Portugal

The Portugal national team has a strong squad across all positions, and many consider it a contender for the title this year under the leadership of star Cristiano Ronaldo.

In terms of the market, the Seleção das Quinas ranks fifth in the standings, with a total value of 957 million euros.

On the individual level, Paris Saint Germain star Vitinha, a Champions League winner, tops the list with 110 million euros. Meanwhile, Ronaldo ranks seventh in his national team with a value of 12 million euros.
