Gulf unity urged as regional tensions escalate after missile and drone interception
UAE calls for coordinated Gulf response as U.S. Central Command reports interceptions over Kuwait and Bahrain and strikes on Iranian site on Qeshm Island, marking a new phase in regional escalation.
The diplomatic adviser to the President of the UAE, Anwar Gargash, emphasized today, Wednesday, the need for a “firm, united, and cohesive” Gulf stance against what he described as “repeated Iranian aggression” toward both Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He noted that no Gulf state should be left to face such targeting alone, stressing that “the security of the Gulf countries is interconnected, with shared interests and a common destiny.”
He added that this “aggression does not target one specific country, but rather targets everyone.”

The United States Central Command announced today that “American forces successfully intercepted several Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, in addition to carrying out defensive strikes on a military site on Qeshm Island, Iran, marking a new escalation in the confrontation between the two sides.”
It clarified in a statement that “Iran launched missiles towards countries in the region, but they did not hit their targets,” noting the “interception of missiles and drones in both Kuwait and Bahrain.”
