Iran asserts rights over uranium enrichment and outlines strict conditions for negotiations
Iranian officials reaffirm red lines on nuclear policy while reports say talks progress hinges on unfreezing funds and easing sanctions on key sectors
The head of the National Security Committee in the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iranian parliament), Ibrahim Azizi, announced on Thursday that Iran has the right to enrich uranium and possess it, as well as to control the Strait of Hormuz.
Azizi added that US President Donald Trump’s statements “will not make Iran back down from its red lines.”

In the same context, the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported that the visit of the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, to Qatar “was successful regarding the release of 12 billion dollars of frozen funds.”
The agency added that Iran’s conditions for entering the second phase of negotiations are the “unfreezing of funds, exemptions from sanctions on oil and petrochemicals, and lifting the blockade.”
