A number of Arab leaders participated in a call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday evening to discuss regional developments and ongoing efforts to contain the escalation, particularly in relation to the war with Iran. Participants collectively emphasized the importance of continuing the diplomatic path and strengthening security and stability in the region.

 

 

The call included, alongside U.S. President Donald Trump, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Jordan’s King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir.

 

UAE

Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in the joint phone call, which discussed regional developments and efforts to enhance security and stability across the region, according to the Emirates News Agency on Sunday.

 

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also participated in the call. The Saudi Press Agency stated that the discussion “reviewed the latest regional developments,” while expressing deep appreciation for Donald Trump’s leadership and his commitment to consultation and coordination with regional leaders. The agency also highlighted the mediation efforts of the Pakistan and the efforts of the Qatar to reach an agreement that would end the escalation and strengthen regional security and stability.

Qatar

 

The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, affirmed “the importance of intensifying consultation and coordination among the relevant countries regarding various developments,” stressing that “reaching diplomatic solutions represents the optimal way to address crises and spare the region the repercussions of escalation.”


The Qatar News Agency clarified that “the call addressed current developments in several regional and international files amid escalating security and political challenges in the region,” with participants exchanging views on ways to contain tensions and prevent their expansion in a manner that threatens the region’s security and stability.

 

The agency added that “the leaders expressed their gratitude and appreciation to U.S. President Donald Trump for his coordination and consultation with the concerned parties,” while also noting the diplomatic efforts being undertaken by the Pakistan in this context.


Egypt

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the leaders participating in the call renewed “their appreciation and praise for the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump and the concerned parties in reaching an agreement to end the war with Iran and restore security and stability in the Middle East,” urging Trump to “continue these efforts to achieve sustainable peace and security in the region and the world.” 

 

 

 

The Egyptian presidency confirmed in a statement that Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s participation came “within the framework of Egypt’s efforts aimed at enhancing regional peace and stability, and advancing a comprehensive and sustainable agreement between the United States and Iran to end the current tensions and prevent renewed escalation in the region.” 

 

 

 

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized “the importance of seizing the current opportunity to reach a comprehensive agreement through negotiations,” affirming that “Egypt will spare no effort in providing support and assistance to facilitate these negotiations in coordination with brotherly countries.”


Jordan

Jordan’s King Abdullah II of Jordan also participated in the call. The Jordan News Agency stated that the discussions focused on “ways to sustain the ceasefire between the United States and Iran and achieve a comprehensive and lasting calm that addresses the root causes of the crisis and restores stability to the region.” 

 

Bahrain

  

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa affirmed “the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to bridge differences and support security, peace, and stability, while enhancing opportunities for growth and prosperity for the peoples of the region and the world.”


He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Donald Trump “for his support of efforts aimed at enhancing stability and advancing efforts of understanding between the concerned parties.”


He praised “the efforts being made by the brotherly Pakistan to reach a memorandum of understanding that serves the interests of all parties,” expressing hope that “these diplomatic efforts and endeavors will reinforce security, stability, and peace across the region.”
