Syria introduces new entry and work procedures for foreign journalists
Ministry of Information outlines a formal application process, visa conditions, and mandatory work authorization for media professionals entering the country.
The Syrian Ministry of Information announced a set of new procedures that foreign journalists and media professionals must comply with in order to obtain entry permission and work within Syrian territory.
According to the ministry, the procedures include filling out an application through a link that contains all professional and personal information, in addition to attaching a letter from the media organization to the application. The application will then be reviewed within a maximum period of one week.
The ministry added that a response will be sent to the applicant via email to inform them of approval or refusal. It also stated that in case of approval, journalists will be granted a visa valid for one month starting from the date of issuance.
It further indicated that if approval is not granted, a refusal will be sent to the journalist explaining the reasons that led to this decision.
It explained that journalists may apply again after addressing the stated reasons, and requested that journalists entering Syrian territory visit the Ministry of Information Foreign Media Department as soon as possible to obtain work approval.
It also noted that work approval is an official requirement so that journalists can work legally in Syria.
