Significant step: Lebanon has officially taken a diplomatic move by filing a complaint against Iran to the Security Council, accusing it of violating Lebanese sovereignty. The complaint speaks of Iran’s breach of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, interference in Lebanese sovereign decision making, and dragging the country into a destructive war against the will of the state. According to the information, the official complaint against Iran refutes the false Iranian narrative that claims the individuals from the Quds Force who were assassinated by Israel at the beginning of the support war for Iran in the Ramada Hotel in Beirut were merely diplomats who coordinated their stay at the hotel with the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The truth is that they were not diplomats and did not coordinate their presence in Lebanon with anyone. They were officers belonging to the Quds Force, which is part of the Revolutionary Guard, carrying out security, military, and intelligence activities in Lebanon with Hezbollah, whose security and military activities were banned under a decision issued by the Council of Ministers on 2 March of last year. These activities are in violation of Lebanese regulations and laws.

The reality is that the official Lebanese complaint against Tehran represents an act of liberation from Iranian control over Lebanon through its local arm, and a courageous Lebanese step in confronting this southern influence that controls Hezbollah and its leadership, which is fully aligned with Iran’s regional policies. It is our certainty that the complaint would not have been filed against Iran without a convergence of courage demonstrated by both President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, along with Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi.

Based on this reality, and despite the current war, it can be said that Hezbollah’s desperate attempts to return Lebanon to its previous state as a security, military, and political platform serving Iranian regional policies are fading. The party’s weapons, which have dragged Lebanon into two consecutive wars since 2023, are no longer sufficient to subdue the Lebanese majority, which is gradually freeing itself from the fear of illegal weapons. Even the Lebanese government has taken historic decisions stripping Hezbollah of legitimacy and legal cover as a security and military arm described by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf as sharing one spirit with Iran. The governmental decisions taken on 5 and 7 August 2025 stipulated disarming the party, and the decision of 2 March 2026 announced a ban on its security and military activities. This means that its latest war under the name support war for Iran, which it continues to wage until today, is in violation of Lebanese law and the responsible party can be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Israelis are escalating the level of confrontation in southern Lebanon through mobile air raids from the outskirts of Beirut to the city of Sidon. The toll is frightening in terms of casualties among Hezbollah members. But the most dangerous development today is the Israeli army crossing north of the Litani River and its alarming approach toward the city of Nabatieh, one of the most important population centers in the south. This matter is not limited to the area south of the Litani River alone but extends to all of southern Lebanon.

In conclusion, the Lebanese government is criticized for failing to fully implement its commitments to the international community regarding extending its authority over the territory. This may be partly true, but it does not negate the fact that President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, along with the government majority, are courageously confronting one of the most dangerous forces in the world and are gradually weakening Iranian influence. Therefore, it is important for the international community and Arab countries to stand firmly in support of courageous Lebanese legitimacy.
