Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed today, Tuesday, that “the ties between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia go beyond the fraternal and historical relations between two sister countries, as they are built on solid foundations of mutual respect and constructive cooperation.”

He observed that “over the years, Saudi Arabia has remained a steadfast supporter of Lebanon under various circumstances, and its generous initiatives clearly reflect its continued commitment to Lebanon’s stability and prosperity.”

He noted that “while Lebanon highly values the care shown by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, it also sees in the pioneering role played by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ambitious visions whose positive impact extends beyond the Kingdom to the entire region, enhancing opportunities for development and stability.”

He expressed his commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom across various fields, expressing hope that these relations will continue to serve the interests of both countries.

Joseph Aoun made these remarks during his reception this morning at the Baabda Palace of Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari on the occasion of the end of his tenure in Lebanon. He awarded him the National Order of the Cedar with the rank of Commander “in recognition of his efforts to strengthen the fraternal relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia and his continued support throughout a long journey marked by love and giving.”

Joseph Aoun commended the role played by Ambassador Walid Bukhari and wished him success in his new duties.

Walid Bukhari thanked him for the award and for the support he received during his mission in Lebanon, expressing hope that “Lebanon will regain its brilliance and active role in the region, with its people enjoying security, stability, and prosperity, while remaining a destination and haven for all those who love it and consider themselves its brothers.”
