Israeli army claims operational control over Litani River area in Southern Lebanon
Israeli forces say Golani Brigade units crossed north of the Litani River, targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, and carried out week-long operations deep inside southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army announced today, Tuesday, that “Golani Brigade forces have completed an operation to establish operational control over the Litani River area” in southern Lebanon.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said via “X” that “throughout the past week, Golani Brigade forces, under the command of the 36th Division, carried out a special operation to clear the Litani area and establish operational control over the region.”
Adraee claimed that “during the operation, the forces uncovered accommodations used by Hezbollah elements, underground routes containing large quantities of combat equipment, as well as weapons depots and launch platforms. The Air Force also struck more than 100 military targets in support of the forces operating in the area.”

He stated that “during the clearance operations in the area, the forces killed dozens of militants in direct confrontations and through airstrikes,” adding that “during one of the clashes, the forces discovered a large underground tunnel belonging to Hezbollah that was designated for clearance.”
Earlier, Israeli army radio claimed that forces from the Egoz Unit and the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance company had crossed north of the Litani River.
It stated that “in an operation lasting about a week, forces from the Egoz Unit and the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance company crossed north of the Litani River and operated on the outskirts of the eastern village of Zawtar, around 10 kilometers from Israeli territory.”
