Lamine Yamal, the young Spanish player, drew attention during FC Barcelona’s celebrations with the fans for winning the La Liga title by appearing with the Palestinian flag.

Yamal may have missed the last El Clásico match of the season due to injury, but he was the star of his team’s title celebrations. The 18-year-old player, considered by many as a key figure in the La Liga title campaign, was also one of the heroes of the open-top bus parade.

Earlier in the day, Lamine Yamal sparked controversy on social media when he posted a video of himself celebrating Ferran Torres’ goal in the 2-0 win against Real Madrid, captioned: “Talk is cheap.” This was widely seen as a reference to a previous post by Jude Bellingham.

During the celebrations, flags were not in short supply, with FC Barcelona and Catalan flags dominating. However, later in the parade that started from Camp Nou to the city center and back, Lamine Yamal raised the Palestinian flag from atop the bus.

"Thank God I'm not a Madridista"

Alongside the Palestinian flag, Lamine Yamal also sent a humorous message to Real Madrid during the celebrations, appearing with a FC Barcelona jersey that read: “Thank God I’m not a Madridista.”

Lamine Yamal wasn't the only player in Spain recently seen with a Palestinian flag. Ilyas Akhomach, the winger for Rayo Vallecano on loan from Villarreal CF, picked up a Palestinian flag from fans at Vallecas Stadium during Rayo’s celebrations after defeating RC Strasbourg Alsace in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

It is worth noting that Ilyas Akhomach, who is four years older than Lamine Yamal, also graduated from Barcelona’s “La Masia” academy.
